After speculation in early December indicated that Tiger Woods and Nike could be heading for a split, on Monday it was officially announced by Woods that he and the brand he had been with since his 1996 debut are no longer in business together.

In a social media post, Woods expressed his gratitude for Nike and reminisced on the culturally iconic moments along the way.

"Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world," Woods posted to his X account. "The days since have been filled with so many amazing moments and memories, if I started naming them, I could go on forever. Phil Knight's passion and vision brought this Nike and Nike Golf partnership together and I want to personally thank him, along with the Nike employees and incredible athletes I have had the pleasure of working with along the way."

Woods, 48, didn't reveal what apparel brand he will be donning in future events, but it is worth noting that he has been wearing Footjoy golf shoes since returning to golf following the injuries he suffered in his serious car accident.

Along with his statement, Nike also posted a final salute to the legend on Instagram.

"Tiger, you challenged your competition, stereotypes, conventions, the old school way of thinking," Nike wrote on Instagram. "You challenged the entire institution of golf. You challenged us. And most of all, yourself. And for that challenge we're grateful."
