Texas A&M Baseball Ranked No. 8 in D1 Baseball Top 25 Preseason Poll
Today, D1 Baseball released its preseason Top 25 list and the Texas A&M Aggies are sitting at No. 8.
Despite their season ending in Palo Alto at the Stanford Regional against the Cardinal, D1 as well as other baseball organizations, see the potential talent in the 2024 Aggies' baseball program.
Overall, the SEC leads the way with eight teams in the Top 25. Nine of the teams in D1's preseason rankings did not finish last season ranked, and of those teams, Texas A&M is the highest-ranked team.
The Aggies saw 3 infielders and 3 pitchers signed in the 2023 draft, but with the upper hand in the transfer portal, more depth is coming in the 2024 season.
One of the most notable additions, two-way star Braden Montgomery out of Stanford. The move is arguably the most significant acquisition for A&M since the hiring of Jim Schlossnagle in the summer of 2021.
- Hayden Schott OF (Columbia)
- Jackson Appel C (Pennsylvania)
- Ali Camarillo INF (Cal State Northridge)
- Ted Burton INF (Michigan)
- Zane Badmaev RHP (Tarleton State)
- Tanner Jones RHP (Jacksonville State)
- Eldridge Armstrong RHP (San Diego State)
- Brook Peery RHP (Arizona State)
- Braden Montgomery OF/RHP (Stanford)
Coach Schlossnagle also made a coaching addition in July of 2023, with 28-year-old pitching coach Max Weiner, previously a coach with the Seattle Mariners. Many players like Braden Montgomery express how much they enjoy his coaching style.
"We started drafting and acquiring different types of players," Mariners pitching coach Pete Woodworth said earlier in the 2023 season, per The Seattle Times." We started identifying different types of traits that we know are going to be effective."
It seems Schlossnagle is set on developing Aggie pitchers with innovation.
Aggies Add Stanford Baseball Standout Braden Montgomery For 2024 Season
There are multiple reasons why D1 ranks the Texas A&M Aggies at the No. 8 position, with a new arsenal of players and a refreshed pitching mindset at the forefront.
In exactly one month, A&M will take on McNeese at Blue Bell Park on February 16th to begin the 2024 baseball season.
