Aggies Baseball Adds Two From Transfer Portal

Coach Jim Schlossnagle isn't content to see what next year will bring. The Aggies have already improved themselves through the transfer portal by adding two outstanding players.

After a College World Series appearance in 2022, the Texas A&M Aggies baseball program fell short in 2023, losing in the Stanford Regional Final to the Cardinal.

Coach Jim Schlossnagle isn't content to see what next year will bring. The Aggies have already improved themselves through the transfer portal by adding two outstanding players.

Michigan graduate transfer Ted Burton will join the Aggies in 2023 after speculation that he may go pro after his senior season with the Wolverines. He announced his decision on Twitter:

"Thank you to the University of Michigan for the last four years filled with endless memories and lifelong relationships, forever grateful. Next chapter: Aggieland #GigEm," Burton tweeted.

The infielder's career stats include a .285 batting average, 167 hits, 134 RBIs, and 31 home runs. He's stolen 20 bases, posted a .529 slugging percentage and a .965 fielding percentage.

Burton made the All-Big Ten Team twice and the ABCA/Rawlings All-Regional Team once.

The other transfer is 6-8, 265-pound relief pitcher Zane Badmaev, who joins the Aggies from Tarleton State. He'll add some much-needed depth to the A&M pitching staff.

Badmaev also announced his decision on Twitter:

"Beyond excited and blessed to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and everyone who has helped me through this process. Gig'em!"

Badmaev posted a 2.87 ERA while throwing 46 strikeouts with 4 saves. He allowed an opposing batting average of .217.
