Aggies Men's Hoops Attendance Marks 4th Highest Average in School History
The Texas A&M Aggies men's basketball team rode a bit of a regular-season roller coaster this year, but it didn't affect the fans at Reed Arena.
The program announced on Monday that it set the 4th highest average for attendance in school history with 9,650 per game. That's 144,744 people total that attended games at Reed Arena during the 2023-24 season.
The Aggies began the year on a hot streak, winning their first five games over non-conference opponents before finally losing to FAU in a heartbreaker at home. It was tough to regain momentum after that loss going just 7-7 over the next 14 games.
Texas A&M then won three straight over SEC teams Florida, Missouri and No. 6 Tennessee in a stunner at Reed.
But the Aggies then embarked on their longest losing streak of five, which was the longest such streak since the 2021-22 season when A&M lost eight in a row. With losses to Vanderbilt, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and South Carolina, A&M's NCAA Tournament hopes were on hold.
But the Aggies and coach Buzz Williams regrouped and won their last three contests against Georgia, Mississippi State and Ole Miss to get back on track.
This Aggies X-Factor Keeps NCAA Tournament Hopes Alive
A&M now preps for the SEC Championship Tournament that begins on Tuesday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, where the Aggies hold the No. 7 tournament seed.
They'll need a good showing with most likely two or three wins for a chance to play at the NCAA Tournament starting March 21.
