Texas A&M Transfer Javonte Brown Commits To Western Michigan
Texas A&M Aggies forward Javonte Brown has found a new home to finish out his collegiate career.
Brown announced his commitment to Western Michigan on Instagram Saturday night. He played 38 games and started 11 while in College Station, averaging 1.6 points and as many rebounds in 6.4 minutes per game.
The Toronto, Ontario, native was a four-star prospect, the No. 127 overall recruit and a top-25 center in the recruiting class of 2020, committing to UConn to begin his collegiate career.
Things didn't work out in Storrs, CT. as Brown didn't garner the same playing time that Josh Carlton and Adama Sanogo β who helped lead the Huskies to a national championship last season β appearing in two games and averaging two minutes in each contest. He made both of his field goal attempts and pulled down two rebounds.
Brown entered the transfer portal in the middle of his freshman season and committed to Texas A&M Jan. 15, 2021.
His first season with the Aggies, he was a major contributor, playing in 31 games and starting 11. He made 17 of his 32 field goal attempts, averaging 1.5 points per game, blocking nine shots with five steals.
Last season, the 7-0, 255-pound forward didn't log the same minutes as his first year, appearing in only seven games.
He entered the transfer portal March 29.
