Aggies G Alex Caruso Nominated For Bob Lanier Community Assist Award
The Texas A&M Aggies all-time assists leader is now dishing out another kind of helping hand in the NBA.
Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso was nominated by NBA Cares for the Bob Lanier Community Assist Award for his contributions in the Windy City to help fight food insecurity. The Bob Lanier Community Assist Award "honors a player for their outstanding work in the community."
"Alex Caruso of the Chicago Bulls is committed to addressing food insecurity, providing essential items for those in need and creating memorable experiences for youth in his community," the narrator in Caruso's Bob Lanier Community Assist Award promotional video said. "Alex helped provide high-quality, fresh food for families in Chicago by delivering meals and contributing dollars to fight food insecurity throughout Chicago. Alex previously won the January NBA Cares Community Assist Award."
Caruso is one of 10 finalists alongside the San Antonio Spurs' Keita Bates-Diop, the Milwaukee Bucks' Pat Connaughton and Brook Lopez, the Philadelphia 76ers' James Harden and Tyrese Maxey, the Phoenix Suns' Cameron Payne, the Dallas Mavericks' Dwight Powell, the New York Knicks' Julius Randle and the Boston Celtics' Marcus Smart.
The winner of the Bob Lanier Community Assist Award will be determined by an executive board and a fan vote which closed Sunday. The winner of the award will receive $25,000 to a charity of his choice.
