'Absolute Freak!' Purdue Transfer Tight End Garrett Miller Commits to Texas A&M
The Texas A&M Aggies have had a rough go of things in terms of roster turnover over the last few weeks.
In part, that was due to the changing of the guard at the top, with Jimbo Fisher being fired, and Mike Elko being hired and bringing in an entirely new staff.
However, the Aggies have been able to add a few key pieces via the NCAA Transfer Portal over that time, most recently on Tuesday morning, when Purdue tight end Garrett Miller committed to the program.
Miller announced his decision on X, just one day before the start of the Early Signing Period.
“I'll start with Garrett Miller, who to me is an absolute freak. He's an absolute freak from a skillset level," Purdue tight ends coach Seth Doege said last spring. "I think he can play all three of them and actually be a guy that we feature, especially down the field, you know, with his speed and skill set. So I'm very excited about him.”
Miller's commitment to the Aggies is a major win for the program, who was going to be then at the position with the departures of Max Wright and Jake Johnson.
Now, Miller bolsters a talented tight end room that includes Donovan Green, Theo Melin Öhrström, Jaden Platt and others.
After missing 2022 with a season-ending knee injury, Miller returned in 2023 to catch 30 catches for 243 yards and two touchdowns.
Miller, a Texas native, will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Aggies.
