COLLEGE STATION -- One more early kickoff comes to Kyle Field in 2023.

Texas A&M will host Abilene Christian for its final home game of the regular season on Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+.

The Aggies are coming off a heartbreaking 38-35 loss to No. 10 Ole Miss on the road, extending their road losing streak to nine games. The offense breathed new life in the second half behind a surging play design from Bobby Petrino, but the early damage put A&M behind the stick far too late to secure the comeback.

“We wasn’t able to get the job done and it hurts,” Ainias Smith said after the loss. “That’s how I was feeling. I was feeling hurt. It was tough, just being able to see us getting so close and not able to come through.”

A&M (5-4, 3-3 SEC) stood a chance after Max Johnson jumped over the goal line for a 1-yard touchdown run. With a four-point lead, the Aggies needed to force a punt and run out the clock.

The only thing running was Quinshon Judkins, who totaled 37 of his 102 yards, capping it off with a 1-yard score on a direct snap. A&M responded with three first downs to get into field goal range, but Randy Bond's 47-yard kick was tipped at the line, leading to a ball falling just short of the posts.

“I don’t want nobody to throw no shots at Randy,” Smith said. “He’s an amazing person and he’s a great player for us and he does his job very well. He comes to work every day and he’s definitely a grinder.”

A&M needs one more win to secure bowl eligibility for the 2023 season. The Aggies return home this Saturday to take on Mississippi State at 6:30 p.m. If they were to drop that game, they would fall to below .500 in conference play for potentially the second consecutive season.

The Aggies hit the road following Thanksgiving for a season-finale matchup against LSU at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on Nov. 25. Last season, A&M ended its six-game SEC losing streak with a 38-23 win over the Tigers at Kyle Field.
