Texas A&M Aggies DL Shemar Turner Ejected Against Ole Miss Rebels
When it rains, it pours and it's coming down in clumps in Oxford.
At least for Texas A&M.
Defensive lineman Shemar Turner was ejected during the third quarter after taking a swing at an Ole Miss offensive lineman. Turner had been one of A&M's most consistent defensive linemen to begin the afternoon at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Ole Miss leads A&M 28-21.
Following a red zone Max Johnson interception, Jaxson Dart began to cook again. Turner was being blocked on the outside and seemed to be held during a pass-rushing set.
Turner, however, took his frustration out on the play, delivering an uppercut jab to Micah Pettus' stomach. Rebels coach Lane Kiffin saw the play and immediately gave the ejection sign to the referees.
The No. 10 Rebels would score on the ensuing play with a 6-yard touchdown run from Quinshon Judkins. Ole Miss would make it a 14-point game after a two-point conversion pass to Tre Harris.
Turner finished the afternoon with three tackles and a tackle for loss. The Aggies were already lacking trench depth after Jimbo Fisher announced that Enai White would miss the remainder of the season with a lower-body injury.
Turner's breakout moment came with eight minutes remaining in the second half. After three offensive penalties against Ole Miss (7-1, 4-1 SEC), the Rebels were forced to settle for a field goal attempt. Cade Davis' 41-yard kick was blocked by Turner up the middle, which Jacoby Mathews recovered for a 75-yard touchdown return.
The Aggies are currently on an eight-game road losing streak dating back to 2021. Kiffin, who was hired by Ole Miss in 2020, is 3-0 all-time against Fisher and the Aggies.
