Aggies SAF Demani Richardson Names 3 Reasons He 'Came Back For The Team'
The Texas A&M Aggies had a good start to the new year when safety Demani Richardson announced he would return to College Station for his fifth season.
Richardson feels there are still things he wants to accomplish in his collegiate career, identifying three reasons Monday why he's an Aggie for one more season.
"Injuries played a big role in it also record," Richardson said. "I felt like I didn't make enough plays. I felt like I could do better, so those three things are like the main reason I came back for the team, help out the seniors as much as I can."
Richardson has played since 2019 and is 30-17 and an 18-15 mark in Southeastern Conference play. The Aggies are coming off the worst record since 2008, which is not exactly the best way to end a college career.
Richardson has racked up 245 tackles, 14 for loss, four interceptions, 11 pass breakups and three forced fumbles in his four-year career.
The Waxahachie, Texas, native has dealt with a calf injury that's made his return to the field for summer workouts a little slower than expected, but he said he's been doing rehab and strengthening exercises and is "good" now.
As opposed to setting individual goals for himself, Richardson is instead focused on team success.
"I just want to have a successful year," Richardson said. "I know we can be a really great team. We have the potential, but we just have to have to go out there and work each and every day and be consistent."
