Texas A&M Aggies Jimbo Fisher on Alabama QB Jalen Milroe: 'You May Never Catch Him'

Ahead of Texas A&M Aggies' Week 6 showdown against the Alabama Crimson Tide, Jimbo Fisher didn't hesitate to give Jalen Milroe his flowers.
In this story:

The Alabama Crimson Tide might be in a "down" year this season, but that doesn't make them any less dangerous.

Finding a way to contain a Nick Saban-led football team is never an easy task, especially knowing it hasn't fulfilled Saban's mile-high expectations this season. That only increases the stakes for the Texas A&M Aggies, who need a victory over Alabama to remain in contention for the SEC West and likely the CFP.

But in order for the Aggies to beat those stakes and pull off a victory, they'll have to shut down one of the Crimson Tide's more controversial offensive weapons: Jalen Milroe.

"This guy, when he takes off, you may never catch him," Fisher said of the Tide quarterback. "The whole thing is you have to keep him in the pocket when you rush him and not give him outlets."

This season, Milroe has thrown for just 838 yards and six touchdowns with three interceptions, which doesn't put him anywhere near the top of the SEC as far as top quarterbacks, but it isn't his arm that makes him the most deadly.

Milroe also has more carries than Alabama's second-leading rushing, with 49. He's rushed for just over 100 yards in four games, showcasing his speed throughout the process. That's what makes him dangerous.

When the Aggies take to Kyle Field for their annual showdown against Alabama, it will be a true chance for their defense to show what it's capable of. To this point, the offense has done its job, leaving the defense — which has been improving over the last couple of weeks — on the hook.

But if D.J. Durkin's squad is able to shut down Milroe and force Alabama to look to its other weapons, that'll be all they need to do.
