'Most Improved' Aggies Ready To Kick Off 2023

Last season (we promise to stop bringing it up as soon as the season starts) was the epitome of disappointment. The Texas A&M Aggies went 5-7 overall and just 2-6 in league play, had problems finding the right quarterback and were left scratching their heads as to what went wrong.

Now under new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino and second-year quarterback Conner Weigman - who got five games under his belt in 2022 - A&M hopes to find the success it once had not too long ago.

Sixth-year head coach Jimbo Fisher has built an elite roster of talent and has all the tools. And media outlet 247Sports has noticed. A list was recently compiled by 247Sports naming the top 10 programs that will turn it all around in 2023.

And the Aggies topped the list:

"No team has a better recipe for a breakthrough year than Texas A&M, which boasts a No. 4 ranking in the 2023 Blue-Chip Ratio after compiling consecutive highly-ranked recruiting classes and which hired one of the game’s most established offensive minds in Bobby Petrino this offseason. The offense, which scored just 22.8 points per game, was the Aggies’ biggest problem last year and held them out of bowl eligibility despite entering the campaign with College Football Playoff aspirations. Jimbo Fisher proved in year five of his tenure that the floor is a losing season, but Texas A&M has a wide range of possible outcomes in 2023 that includes SEC title contention."

A&M has the most returning starters in the SEC with 16, and they're evenly spread between the offense (8) and defense (8). So it's easy to understand expectations from an experience and talent standpoint.
