Aggies Owens, Bisontis, Named to On3 Preseason True Freshman All-American Team
The Texas A&M Aggies football program would like to put 2022 behind them. With the exception of the recruiting cycle for that year, not much else went right for A&M football.
That class was full of talent, boasting the so-called greatest recruiting class of all time, but the 2023 cycle shouldn't be lost in that discussion. While not the best of all time, the Aggies' latest recruiting class could hold its own.
Especially considering freshmen Rueben Owens and Chase Bisontis. The two were honored by being named to On3's Preseason True Freshman All-American Team.
Owens is considered one of the best - if not the best - running back prospects in the cycle per many media outlets, including On3.
“There’s a handful of touted 2023 running backs who I think could make a claim for this lone running back spot. We went with Rueben Owens, because I think his versatility and ability to affect the game in the backfield at A&M, who’s going to have to replace Devon Achane. I think he’s in a good position to contribute, especially early in the season.”
Bisontis might be one of the best offensive linemen the Aggies have landed in recent memory, with real potential to play at the next level after his collegiate career is done.
“A big senior riser for On3, and reached the cusp of five-star status, finishing a No. 35 in the On3 Top 300. He is extremely physically developed. Very strong. One of the strongest offensive linemen in the 2023 cycle. And a guy who can play multiple positions along the offensive line. … He can play guard, he can play tackle. I think he has a ton of versatility.”
