Aggies Football Included In Greatest College Football Programs In History
The history of Texas A&M football is a complicated one. Especially considering the relationship between the Aggies and their many rivals from the old Southwest Conference.
With just three national championships to its name - and none since 1939 - the football program has been disrespected throughout two different centuries of existence. But is it deserved?
College football programs were ranked by 247Sports, based on AP Poll finishes since 1936. And the Aggies are in the top 25, proving the naysayers - all the way back to the old SWC - wrong.
There's no arguing the fact that the Aggies haven't been as successful as some other programs on the list, namely, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame.
But for A&M to be included here says tons about the stability of a program that has tremendous pride, tradition, and history. And a program that has been overlooked for decades from a national standpoint.
Since its first season of play in 1894, the Aggies have registered a 771-498-48 record for a .604 winning percentage through three different conferences. That's saying something.
And its AP Poll finishes score of 397 is No. 21 on the list of greatest college football programs in history.
