Mike Elko Believes Texas A&M Aggies Are A Flagship Program

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko believes the Aggies are a flagship program to the state of Texas.

On Wednesday, Texas A&M Aggies secured three recruits who signed their letters of intent, bolstering their 2024 recruiting class.

New Aggies head coach Mike Elko discussed these additions along with recent staff changes since his last media appearance in December 2023. These developments signify the team's ongoing efforts to strengthen both its player roster and coaching lineup.

In Texas, football is more than just a sport—it's a way of life deeply rooted in communities across the state. Elko understands the importance of high school football programs in shaping the state's gridiron culture.

As he puts it, Texas A&M is a flagship program, carrying a legacy of excellence and a duty to support and engage with high school coaches. Building strong relationships with these coaches isn't just about recruiting talent; it's about being a valuable resource and partner in nurturing future football stars.

"We're one of the flagship programs in this state," Elko said. "If you're one of those programs, there is a certain relationship that you need to have with the high schools in this state. Part of that is being the resources to the high school coaches."

By prioritizing these foundational principles, Mike Elko and Texas A&M are not only positioning themselves for success on the field but also establishing a lasting legacy rooted in integrity and collaboration.

As they continue to forge strong ties with high school programs and invest in the development of young talent, they are laying the groundwork for a sustainable and thriving football culture.

"That's part of being one of the premier programs in your own state. To me, that's what you have to do," Elko said. "This is what we believe Texas A&M football should be about moving forward."
