Oklahoma State Coach Mike Gundy Has 'No Idea' What to Expect From Texas A&M

Due to the large turnover in the program, Oklahoma State Cowboys coach Mike Gundy has no idea what to expect from the Texas A&M Aggies in the Texas Bowl

The Texas A&M Aggies are in full transition mode heading into the Texas Bowl on Dec. 27 against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Not only are they facing extreme turnover in the coaching staff after the firing of Jimbo Fisher and the hiring of new coach Mike Elko, but they are also facing a mass exodus of many key players via the NCAA Transfer Portal.

In fact, heading into the game, the Aggies have lost a total of 19 players to transfer, while offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino has been hired away to Arkansas.

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy gestures to the crowd before last year's game against Texas at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater on Oct. 22. Oklahoma State won 41-34.

As a result, Oklahoma State Cowboys coach Mike Gundy has no idea what to expect out of the Aggies by the time they finally face off in Houston later this month.

“We have no idea what they’re gonna do,” Gundy said last week. “We don’t have any idea what they’re gonna do. They play three down, they play four down. They play man, they play zone. The coordinator’s not there on either side of the ball."

“So, we don’t have any idea what they’re doing. We’re practicing for spring ball and putting a little gameplan together and gonna go down and play.”

Interim head coach Elijah Robinson - who himself is Syracuse-bound - will lead the Aggies into Houston hoping to end the season on a positive note for the program.

And with nothing to lose, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Robinson make some aggressive decisions in terms of the game plan.

Either way, as Gundy indicated, it should be about as unpredictable of a game as we will see this bowl season.
