The Texas A&M Aggies are coming off of the worst season in the Jimbo Fisher era, finishing 5-7 and missing out on a chance to be bowl eligible for the first time since 2008.

As a result, Fisher is entering his team's new campaign firmly on the hot seat. However, according to ESPN personality - and noted Jimbo critic - Paul Finebaum, Fisher might not have too much to worry about just yet.

"I don’t think it’s 'ciao' yet because it would cost $70 million to buy him out, and there does not seem to be an appetite in the state of Texas," Finebaum said. "Now, oil prices could go up tomorrow, and that could change very quickly."

Not only does Finebaum think Fisher will ultimately be safe, but he also believes that Aggies could be a force to be reckoned with in 2023.

Why? The addition of the team's new offensive coordinator, Bobby Petrino.

"Bob Petrino was once one of the best coaches in college football. He coached a Heisman winner a couple years ago in Lamar Jackson," Finebaum continued. "If Jimbo Fisher will let him do his job — and that’s the debate right now – A&M has a chance to be very good this year."

Whether or not Petrino will be calling the plays next season, is still a mystery.

One thing that is not, however, is the Aggies' talent on the field. And if Fisher can finally manage to maximize it, it could be a big bounce-back year in College Station.
