'Money Manziel' Is Coming Back to College Station ... Sort Of
Texas A&M Aggies legend Johnny Manziel may not have panned out in the NFL in the way many expected him to, but he also hasn't gone completely without success since leaving College Station.
Multiple non-NFL endeavors have seen the former Aggie quarterback's name in headlines, with the most recent being more entrepreneurial than football related.
Johnny Manziel's Money Bar, as first reported by Alex Miller of the Bryan-College Station Eagle, is coming soon to Aggieland — complete with "state-of-the-art technology never seen before in Texas A&M's famed college town.
"It's funny because we had a few other names picked out and then obviously people called him 'Money Manziel' for his famous after-touchdown [celebration]," co-owner J.D. Ybanez said. "I just thought it was a really cool name and he loved it and the theme itself was really cool. It works."
The name certainly works. It'll attract attention — and already has — along with business, though early impressions seem to indicate that your average "poor" college student will not frequenting Manziel's new establishment in the fall.
"The systems we use for all of our other clubs are kind of incredible," Ybanez said. "We use pretty state-of-the-art stuff. It's going to be super high-tech and nice with some design aspects that are different than anything else you'll see in College Station."
Johnny Manziel's Money Bar will be located at 115 College Main Street, and is aiming to open its doors by time the Aggies' season opener against New Mexico comes around on Sept. 2.
And when the establishment officially opens, Northgate can expect a wave of new customers hoping to be among the first to experience Manziel's latest business endeavor.
