LOOK: Cotton Holdings Expands Texas A&M Aggies Partnership with Southwest Classic
The Texas A&M Aggies' annual rivalry with the Arkansas Razorbacks — known as the Southwest Classic — may not be around for too many more seasons, but as long as it is played, there will be a new presenting sponsor.
Announced Wednesday via press release, Cotton Holdings, Inc. will serve as the "face" of the Aggies' mid-season matchup for as many years more as it takes place in a move to further incorporate itself into the 12th Man's culture and community.
“The Cotton family has long recognized the importance of this historic rivalry for both players and fans,” Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cotton Holdings Pete Bell said. “We are honored to keep this incredible tradition alive as the first-ever presenting sponsor for the legendary Southwest Classic game, and we look forward to cheering on the Aggies in iconic AT&T Stadium.”
A new logo for the matchup was also released by Cotton Holdings, which features its logo in between Arkansas and Texas A&M, and will be displayed around AT&T Stadium Saturday morning.
The Aggies won their last matchup against the Razorbacks, restarting their win streak after Arkansas broke it in 2021, and will certainly look to extend that on Saturday, even without their named starter, Conner Weigman — also a Cotton Holdings partner.
Weigman may not be suiting up for the Aggies for the rest of the season, but Max Johnson will, and if all goes right, Texas A&M will improve to 2-0 in SEC play with a win in the Cotton Holdings Southwest Classic. And the company is ready to watch.
“We’re thrilled to announce this one-of-a-kind partnership between Texas A&M Athletics and Cotton Holdings,” said Erik Book, General Manager of LEARFIELD’s Texas A&M Sports Properties. “With a season-long presence at Kyle Field and as the first-ever presenting sponsor of the Southwest Classic, Cotton Holdings is sure to garner the attention of the 12th Man.”
