Aggies Land Commitment From Fresno State Tight End Tre Watson

The Texas A&M Aggies have been loading up via the NCAA Transfer Portal, this time adding an offensive weapon.

The Texas A&M Aggies have been as active in the NCAA Transfer Portal as any team in the country with 46 players either coming or going (and one withdrawing) this offseason.

On Saturday evening, that continued, with former Fresno State tight end Tre Watson committing to Texas A&M and becoming the 22nd addition to the transfer class for the Aggies.

Watson, who was originally committed to national runner-up Washington, de-committed from the Huskies after Kalen DeBoer left the program to take over for the recently retired Nick Saban at Alabama.

A former teammate of Aggies QB Jaylen Henderson, Watson spent three seasons 33 games, making 56 catches for 592 yards and four touchdowns. This past season in 2023 was Watson's best season, with the rising senior catching 38 passes for 378 yards and all four of his career touchdowns.

Watson is now the second tight end to commit to the Aggies via the portal, joining former Purdue Boilermaker Garrett Miller, who pledged to the program last month.

Both Watson and Miller will attempt to replace the huge losses at the position after last season, with veteran Max Wright moving on via graduation/the NFL Draft and Jake Johnson entering the transfer portal.

Now, Donovan Green likely assumes the No. 1 tight end role in College Station, with Miller and Watson providing quality depth and versatility at the position.
