Men's Basketball: TCU Beats Omaha 82-60

TCU moves to 2-0 with the win against Omaha led by 21 points from JaKobe Coles.

TCU defeated Omaha 82-60 Thursday night to get to 2-0 on the season. The Frogs shot 49.3% from the field and held Omaha to only 39.3%. Four TCU players reached double figures led by JaKobe Coles with 21 points, tying his career high. The win was the Frogs' 1,300th in program history.

Emanuel Miller - 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals

Micah Peavy - 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists

Jameer Nelson Jr. - 10 points, 3 steals, 1 block

Coles the Number One Option?

After two games, JaKobe Coles is leading the Frogs with 19.0 points on 70.6% shooting. Against Omaha, he looked like the most complete scorer for TCU, adding 21 with only one missed shot. If this trend continues, Coles could be the go-to guy this season.

Miller Time

After a semi-quiet game 1, Emanuel Miller had 17 points, 12 coming in the second half, and seven rebounds. This production is great to see out of Miller, reminding everyone why he was selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 team. He will be the heartbeat of this TCU team throughout the season.

Is Mostafa the Answer at Center?

Throughout the first two games, it's noticeable that Jamie Dixon still doesn't know who the best center is for the Horned Frogs. He has played Ernest Udeh Jr., Xavier Cork, and Essam Mostafa all around the same amount of minutes, but Mostafa probably had the best outing of all three against Omaha. The Coastal Carolina transfer had seven points and six rebounds in slightly more time than the other two. It will be interesting to see how Dixon constructs the lineup next game.

Defense and Rebounding are Back

After giving up 75 points to Southern on Monday, defense was obviously something the Frogs wanted to fix in this matchup. They answered the call Thursday, holding Omaha to just 60 points on 39.3% shooting. They also outrebounded the Mavericks 52-25. Defense and rebounding have always been a backbone for Jamie Dixon teams, and hopefully, this will continue to be a trend this season.

Up Next: TCU's next game will be at home on Tuesday, November 14 against UT Rio Grande Valley. It will be played at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
