The TCU Horned Frogs will travel to Ames, Iowa to play the No. 14 ranked Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday, February 10. TCU is coming off an unfortunate loss against Texas. Despite the loss, TCU has shown they have what it takes to beat some of the best teams in the nation. Iowa State lost to Baylor last Saturday then beat Texas on Tuesday this week. The game is set for 1 p.m. CT and can be seen on ESPN2. TCU is currently 5-4 in the Big 12, while Iowa State is currently 6-3.

Iowa State Guard- #3 Tamin Lipsey

Earlier this season, I highlighted Iowa State's leading scorer Keshon Gilbert. Gilbert dropped 20 points on the Horned Frogs when he and the Cyclones traveled to Ft. Worth for the first matchup. The Cyclones came out with a one-point win in the last matchup against the Frogs. They were even without one of their best guards, Tamin Lipsey.

Having Lipsey back makes the Cyclones even more dangerous. Almost all of the Big 12 has talent, so it is hard to separate teams apart from each other. This is very scary for the Horned Frogs, as they have already lost against the Cyclones at home, and now they will travel to play them once again on the road with a fully healthy team. The Frogs must play hard and physically because Big 12 road games are tough to get a win.

Lipsey is one of the best and most consistent guards in the Big 12. He is a solid shooter who can also shoot off the dribble. Lipsey also has great vision and can design plays, making it hard for defenses. He is also a solid rebounder for being only 6'1" 200 lbs. He is quick and plays solid defense on players, especially guards. He may be a guard that flies under the radar. However, he is very talented, and TCU needs to keep him from getting a rhythm, or it will be trouble for the Frogs.

Lipsey doesn't have too many flaws but lacks size compared to other guards and is not the best free-throw shooter. He also can be a little undisciplined and sporadic at times, especially on defense, committing unnecessary fouls. TCU needs to pick up on his flaws and use them to their advantage to have a better shot at this matchup.

Other Players To Watch For:

  • Junior Guard- #10 Keshon Gilbert
    • Leads team in average average points (13.9)
  • Senior Forward- #0 Tre King
    • Leads team in average rebounds (5.3)
  • Senior Forward- #12 Robert Jones
    • Leads team in average blocks (0.9)
