TCU picked up a big sweep last weekend against Texas Tech and hosted the Cincinnati Bearcats as they continue Big 12 play. This was the first time these two teams played since 2018 when Cincinnati won in five sets.

It would be the same theme on Friday where the Bearcats won in five. It was back and forth all night, but a pivotal comeback by Cincinnati in set three turned the tide of the match. The Frogs led 17-11, but a furious 13-5 run sealed it for the Bearcats.

Melanie Parra finished with 23 kills, and Sarah Sylvester recorded nine blocks.

Things went much better for the Frogs as they pulled off a sweep on Saturday (25-19, 25-14 and 25-15). In the first set, TCU held Cincinnati to a .032 hitting percentage. In frame two, TCU led almost the entire way highlighted by a great defensive performance by Sylvester.

It was a series of runs in the final set as TCU jumped out to a 4-0 lead and closed it out on a 5-0 run. It was a monster game for Jalyn Gibson who continues her impressive sophomore campaign. Gibson hit .469 and led the Frogs in kills (16) and points (18). Sylvester once again recorded nine blocks.

Riley Buckley has also been great replacing Callie Williams. Buckley had 30 assists and eight digs.

The defense has been the standout for TCU this season. They're amongst the best in blocks per match in the Big 12 and have now forced opponents to hit under .200 in seven straight matches. They currently sit at 11-6 and 4-2 in conference play. They have yet to lose consecutive matches against a Big 12 opponent which has been huge.

Their next Big 12 opponent will be on the road in Norman where they will take on the Sooners on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
