How To Watch: Tennessee vs. Texas Tech
It’s officially baseball season, folks. The Tennessee Volunteers are taking on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the opening-day matchup during the Shriners Children’s College Showdown. The long-awaited season is finally starting, as Tennessee fans have had this matchup circled on their calendar after their great season came up short in Omaha. The Volunteers enter this game with three preseason All-Americans.
The pitching matchup has yet to be announced, but many seem to think it is one of two likely options to be on the mound for tonight’s game. The first option is Drew Beam. Beam is a two-year starter who has dominated as the day-three pitcher in his past seasons.
Nicknamed “QB1,” the junior is expected to throw dots all year long. The second option is AJ Russell. Russell is a second-year player who pitched in the bullpen last season and was excellent. Aside from Chase Burns and Kirby Connell, he was arguably the best bullpen pitcher, as he showed true consistency and reliability. The Volunteer's complete rotation is a bit of a question mark, but those are the two main options to be the Friday night ace.
