Analyst Compares Hendon Hooker to Former No. 1 Overall Pick
Former Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker has been going all over the place in mock drafts. Surely he won’t be the No. 1 overall pick, but that didn’t stop Daniel Jeremiah from saying that Hooker reminds him of the No. 1 pick from 2010, Sam Bradford.
Bradford played at Oklahoma, with current Tennessee Head Coach Josh Heupel as his quarterbacks coach. Heupel helped Bradford to win the Heisman Trophy in 2008 and make a BCS Championship appearance.
Bradford was selected by the Rams but went on to have a bit of an underwhelming career, considering that he was the first pick of the draft. Even still, it is great for Hooker to be compared to the first pick, especially when he will struggle to make big moves in the draft season because of his injury.
Jeremiah saw the most similarity in that they are “calm, decisive and accurate.” The draft is not until late April, and it is still really tough to say where Hooker will go in the draft. During the interview process, he made waves at the Reese's Senior Bowl, with one NFL coach saying he could become a "quality starter."
