WATCH: Inky Johnson Delivers Heartfelt Speech To Tennessee Football
Every moment matters. It's a sentiment that rings true throughout all phases of life, yet we still take life for granted.
Therefore, you must take time to appreciate what you have. Tennessee's coaching staff felt like their players needed that message ahead of spring camp, so they hosted former Volunteers defensive back turned motivational speaker Inky Johnson.
Johnson suffered a tragic injury that paralyzed his right arm. He likely would have gone on to play in the NFL, but his dream was snatched before he could grasp it.
He used one of his most difficult moments and turned it into a story for others, warning them to appreciate what they have. Johnson delivered that message to the current Tennessee Volunteers, telling them they don't know when things could change forever.
Spring practice can be difficult no matter your program standing. Messages like that are needed before you embark on a months-long journey that feels like it won't ever end.
Tennessee now has some perspective, which is the most critical part of preparing for a football season; knowing and appreciating where you are. The Volunteers will carry that knowledge into these next few months and should be better as a result.
