Tennessee's Hyatt Rising, Says Matt Miller

Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jalin Hyatt's stock was thought to possibly be sinking. Now, the former Vol may be soaring.
In this story:

Jalin Hyatt may be the most intriguing pre-draft wide receiver case in the 2023 class. For all that Jalin did for the Tennessee Volunteers in 2022, there still seem to be question marks around him. Is he big enough? Why was his 40-time not faster?

Hyatt  knows who he is as a player; the film speaks for itself. With 15 touchdowns for an 11-win Tennessee team, you couldn't help but notice him as a key cog in Josh Heupel's scheme.

With a performance at the combine that Hyatt probably could have performed a little bit better in, some teams started to question if Hyatt was worth a first-round pick, or so it seemed. A guy that was a consensus first-round pick was suddenly being mocked in the second and sometimes even third round at an alarming rate.

Some of these concerns may be for nothing, as ESPN's Matt Miller wrote that he sees Jalin Hyatt as rising. Miller spoke on Hyatt's draft stock, including the South Carolina native on his "NFL Draft Buzz" update on Friday. Miller added that he had Hyatt as a top 32 player since the end of the season, but that was "more of an outlier than a consensus take."

Miller went on to explain the potential of Hyatt, saying, "Wide receivers with high-end speed to stretch the field seemingly always rise on draft day, and Hyatt's production in the SEC should turn heads once coaches get involved in the process." Hyatt was recently mocked to the New York Giants in a mock draft that saw teammates Hendon Hooker and Darnell Wright going first round as well. Tennessee's first winner of the Biletnikoff sees his stock rise once more. As teams look at wideouts on the board on the night of April 27, Jalin Hyatt will certainly be a name to consider.
