Jauan Jennings Discusses Tennessee Ahead of Super Bowl

Former Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jauan Jennings discussed the state of Tennessee and bringing a Super Bowl home during media availabilities.
In this story:

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings spoke about what the University of Tennessee and the entire state meant to him ahead of the Super Bowl. Jennings is appearing in the first Super Bowl of his career, and the Tennessee native talked about what bringing a championship back home would mean.

"It’s a blessing. It’s extremely amazing. I’m just representing everybody from Tennessee, representing the 49ers. I have a lot of family out here. Everybody is rooting for me. I just can’t wait to bring it back to Tennessee."

The San Francisco 49ers had their backs against a wall on Sunday evening. The Detroit Lions went up three scores early in the NFC Championship Game, and it looked like the No. 1 seed in the NFC would be going down before the big game. However, they knew where to go when they needed big plays, which was the difference.

They got a big contribution from Jennings. He only had one grab on the afternoon for eight yards, but it came in a crucial spot. Early in the third quarter, San Francisco faced a 3rd & 4 from Detroit's 35-yard line and trailed by 17 points. Quarterback Brock Purdy found Jennings over the middle of the field for a miraculous one-handed catch. That play extended the drive, which resulted in a field goal.

That field goal cut the lead to two scores and spurred San Francisco to a historic come-from-behind victory. Jennings had the worst statistical season of his three-year stint, still producing with 19 catches for 265 yards, but he's now on to the Super Bowl for the first time in his career.
