Joe Milton III Joins GMFB, Talks 2023 Vols
Recently, we looked at former Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jalin Hyatt and where he fits into the 2023 plan for the New York Giants. The former Tennessee Wideout and 2022 Biletnikoff Award winner possess a lot of elite playmaking ability for the boys in blue. Perhaps his most elite aspect is his speed. The South Carolina native can straight-up fly, as evidenced by his 4.4 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
That speed did not go unnoticed by his teammates in his time at Rocky Top, including presumptive starting quarterback Joe Milton III. Milton joined the crew of Good Morning Football to talk all things ball, including Hyatt. He came with a sizzling take about the rookie third-rounder while on the show. When asked about Jalin, Milton was blunt, saying, "Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle [aren't] the fastest in the NFL anymore."
While Hyatt will be one of the premier speed guys right off the bat and maybe the fastest receiver on the Giants, this is certainly a bold take by Milton about the two speedsters in South Beach. Hill and Waddle have reached speeds of 22 and 21 MPH, respectively, according to Next Gen Stats. For reference, Hyatt's top speed in his 40-yard was about 24 MPH, which shows he can move like those guys, but it is a little different without pads and a game setting. On the show, Milton also alluded to Tennessee chasing "three rings" in 2023, meaning an SEC East ring, an SEC Champions ring, and a national championship ring. If the Vols can replace the blazing Hyatt with guys like Squirrel White, this is very much in play. On the pro side of things, Hyatt will work his tail off to prove Milton correct on the speed debate.
