Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel has many goals for the Vols this season. The College Football Playoff is expanding to twelve teams, meaning there's a legitimate chance that Tennessee could make its first CFP in program history. However, the on-field preparation only started yesterday.

The Vols kicked off spring practices on Monday, allowing media into the building to watch them work. Heupel met with the media after the day's events to catch up on the offseason, new hires, freshman playmakers, and more. He pointed out that LSU Tigers transfer offensive tackle Lance Heard has been a standout with the team these past few months.

Tennessee has many young prospects who could see the field and push the needle for the team this year. They acquired them in various ways, from high-profile high-school recruiting battles to transfer portal gems. Heupel spoke about what it will take for those players to see the field in a meaningful way and their best path to impact the team moving forward.
