Nico Iamaleava Delivers Impressive Spring Game

The Tennessee Volunteers got their first look at five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava in Saturday's Orange and White game.
In this story:

Tennessee played three quarterbacks on Saturday during their annual spring game. This included Nico Iamaleava, the five-star from Downey, California, who showed some good things in his first on-field, in-game experience.

Iamaleava finished the game with 112 yards on eight completions through the air. He also had a 50% completion rate. He looked very comfortable throughout the game and was poised enough to have a consistent ability to get the ball to his receivers.

Although some of his drives ended in punts and even a fumble by wide receiver Trey Weary, he was able to get the ball down the field sometimes as well. He led the orange team on a nine-play, 75-yard drive that resulted in a long touchdown run by Cam Seldon. He also led team white's offense down the field for a 39-yard field goal which sealed the game in the fourth quarter.

Iamaleava on himself and the rest of the quarterback room during the game, "I think our entire quarterback room can make plays on the run...also when I go back home in Cali and train, I work a lot of off-platform throws on the run...I think a lot of those training habits helped me be successful today."

This confidence and training will push Iamaleava far. He may not get the playing time he wants this upcoming season, with Joe Milton being the anticipated starter; however, the spring game left everybody around Tennessee football feeling very confident about the future of the quarterback position.
