Carolina Panthers Agree To Terms With Shy Tuttle

Former Tennessee Volunteers defensive lineman Shy Tuttle agreed to a three-year deal with the Carolina Panthers.

As reported by NFL Network's Ian Rappaport, VFL Shy Tuttle signed a three-year, $19.5 million deal with the Carolina Panthers this week. The former Saint is entering his fifth season in the league after four in New Orleans. In those four seasons, he had 143 total tackles, nine tackles for a loss, and four sacks. He also had one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. The deal includes $13 million guaranteed.

Tuttle played at Tennessee from 2015 to 2018. In his time in Knoxville, he had 79 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, and one sack. He also had one interception and two fumble recoveries. He added two blocked kicks, as well.

The Carolina Panthers also have former Tennessee offensive lineman Cade Mays. Augusta Stone of the Carolina Panthers' website highlighted the career of Shy's uncle Perry Tuttle who played in the NFL with the Bills, Falcons, and Buccaneers.

She also mentioned that Tuttle grew up near Charlotte in Midway, North Carolina, attending North Davidson High School in Lexington, North Carolina. And, of course, she mentioned his time in Knoxville. Hopefully, he will see much of the field for his hometown Panthers and produce as he did at Tennessee when he was healthy.
