Tennessee Volunteers guard BJ Edwards entered the NCAA Transfer portal.

On Friday, B.J. Edwards announced that he would be transferring from Tennessee after but one season with the Vols. This past season, he averaged 4.3 minutes a game. Edwards was a four-star prospect from Knoxville. He played at Knoxville Catholic and was the second-best player in the state of Tennessee, according to 24/7 Sports. He was one of Tennessee's three-four stars from the 2022 class, along with D.J. Jefferson and Freddie Dilione.

The transfer comes following an active offseason for the Volunteers, which involved multiple additions through the transfer portal and three players coming in via the 2023 recruiting class.

Edwards has a lot to offer to teams who may now reach out to him. He is a taller guard at 6 feet, 3 inches tall. He can create lots of shots at the rim as well as be a facilitator for his teammates on the floor.

Scouts on 24/7 also said he is quick on his foot, showing both pure speed and agility, leading to good looks on offense and well-disciplined defense. With Edwards leaving, the guard depth has a bit of a change now. Zakai Zeigler and Santiago Vescovi still lead the pack, but transfers Jordan Gainey and Chris Ledlum were good additions to the depth. Freddie Dilione is also expected to get some valuable time this upcoming season.
