Jalyn Crawford Cuts List Down

Four-star corner Jalyn Crawford has been interested in the Tennessee Volunteers for months. The coveted defensive back cut his recruitment down on Monday afternoon.

Tennessee continue to focus on their defensive backfield in recruiting. You can never stack enough quality depth in your secondary, and the Vols are ensuring they do that under head coach Josh Heupel. The 2024 cycle is a key period for them to begin their efforts, and four-star corner Jalyn Crawford factors into their plans.

Crawford is a Georgia native that has come on strong in recent months. A strong junior season at Parkview High School has propelled him into national standing, and he's made several recruiting trips in recent months. He cut down his list to 11 schools on Monday afternoon, and it features several high-major suitors.

  • Auburn
  • Clemson
  • Florida
  • Georgia Tech
  • Louisville
  • LSU
  • Miami
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Texas A&M

The Vols are in good standing with Crawford thus far. He has visited campus three times, most recently on January 14 for Tennessee's junior day. However, three SEC suitors are trending for Crawford - LSU, Auburn, and Florida. He has upcoming trips planned to each destination, but it seems the Tigers of LSU hold a large lead.

Volunteer Country evaluated Crawford in February and gave a glowing report about where he stands relative to other national corners.

"Crawford measures 6-0 and 170 pounds, which may be under Tennessee's size prerequisites. However, he has long arms that allow him to get back into the play when he gets beat. His wingspan allows him to play press-man coverage well, a benefit for any college program that lands him. Tennessee places a premium on pedigree and history. Some top programs only evaluate talent, while others undergo a more extensive evaluation process. You must have scheme versatility and a strong background to play at Tennessee. Parkview pumps out defensive back talent at a premium. They have a strong coaching staff, one of the best in the southeast. Crawford has progressed since his freshman season, displaying a want and need to get better."
