How To Watch: Tennessee vs. Mississippi State
Tennessee has another SEC conference matchup on deck Wednesday as the Volunteers will take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in their first conference road test of the season. This game begins a two-game road stretch, and both games will be played this week. Tennessee will start with the Mississippi State Bulldogs and then travel to Georgia to take on the Georgia Bulldogs this Saturday.
Tennessee enters this game ranked 5th in the nation with a record of 11-3, with their three losses coming from Purdue, Kansas, and North Carolina earlier this season. Since then, the Volunteers have put together a winning streak of 7 games, and they look to extend it to 8. The Vols are 1-0 in conference play after a ranked win over Ole Miss.
Mississippi State enters this game unranked with a record of 11-3, and their three losses came from South Carolina, Southern, and Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs are on a 1-game losing streak after losing their single conference game thus far to the South Carolina Gamecocks. They look to get back on track and take home a top-five win. This matchup is a test for both teams. Tennessee is the favorite, and although many predict they will win, they can not count the Bulldogs out. Tennessee is a team led by junior guard Zakai Zeigler, who has recently been on fire. He officially broke the points/assists double-double record at Tennessee and is only continuing from there. He is also a very gifted defender who may even find himself in the defensive player of the year conversation yet again. Senior forward Tolu Smith leads Mississippi State. A familiar name for the Bulldogs that the Volunteers had to play last season on two different occasions. If Tennessee wins, they will help build up their case of why they are in the top 5, and if Mississippi State wins, they will attempt to build up their case of being included in the top 25, and it would be quite hard not to include them if they beat the Volunteers.
