The Lady Vols have a tough matchup tonight, taking on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s basketball squad. Tennessee will enter this game ranked #20 in the nation with a 4-2 record. They reached this point with wins over Florida A&M, Memphis, Troy, and a ranked Oklahoma squad. Their only losses came from ranked opponents, as they lost to Florida State by 1 and to Indiana by 14. The Fighting Irish are entering this game ranked #18 with a record of 5-1. Their wins came from beating NJIT, Northwestern, Illinois, Chicago State, and Ball State. Their only loss came to the prestigious South Carolina Gamecocks in an ugly 29-point loss.

What’s at stake, you may ask?

Tennessee: Tennessee will have another game on their resume to point to down the road, as this would be their second-ranked win and would be another win at home for the Vols as they attempt to move up the rankings. The Vols will attempt to give team SEC a win over team ACC, as this game is part of the ACC/SEC challenge.

Notre Dame: The Fighting Irish have much to prove, as this would be their first ranked win to show they belong in the top 25. This is also a game they can point to on their resume during March. This game is part of the ACC/SEC challenge, so this is a chance for Notre Dame to give team ACC a win over team SEC.
