Jaden Springer Shines In NBA Summer League Debut
The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the New York Knicks 110-101 on Saturday for their first game in Las Vegas. Philadelphia went 1-2 in Salt Lake City, but Las Vegas is when things start heating up. VFL Jaden Springer brought the heat to Vegas, shooting efficiently from the field en route to a great scoring output.
After putting up double-digit points in the three games in Salt Lake City, Springer scored 23 on Saturday on 8-for-14 from the field, including 2-for-6 from 3-point territory. He was 5-for-8 from the charity stripe and added three rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block. The young guard ended the game with a plus-15 rating. Springer led the 76ers with over 32 minutes on the floor. A nice spin move highlighted his play and dunk in the fourth quarter.
This summer is a big one for Springer, approaching his third year removed from Knoxville. Last summer, he put up nine points per game in just two contests and has already improved upon that when looking at both Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. With the future of the 76ers roster very much in the air, a strong showing from Springer could not only impress his current team but also intrigue other teams who may be interested in the young man. We will continue to see how he performs throughout the summer, hopefully leading to a big jump in year three.
