Johnell Davis Poses Problems For Tennessee
FAU has impressed in the tournament, and all season, with their offensive capabilities. With three starters averaging points per game in double figures, they can outscore some of the best teams in college hoops.
The catalyst of this FAU attack is sophomore guard Johnell Davis. He is averaging 13.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He leads the Owls in points per game.
What makes Davis so dynamic is his consistency. He is top 5 in both free throw shooting and field goal percentage, shooting 81.8% and 47.8% from both, respectively. He has a great three-point percentage (41.3%). His shot creation and decision-making have made him one of the must-watch players in this tournament.
He was also named to C-USA's all-conference first team along with teammate Alijah Martin. Davis is coming off a great game against Farleigh Dickinson. He finished with 29 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. He also added five assists to his box score. He shot an immaculate 62% showing off his explosive shot-creating.
He also has scored in double figures for eight straight games, which include the round of 64 win FAU had against Memphis and the conference tournament. The Volunteers have the defense to keep Davis at bay. They must make him uncomfortable and keep him from getting in his zone on offense. If they take him out of the game, it will put a major dent in the Florida Atlantic offense.
