The Tennessee Volunteers and the rest of the field found out about their March Madness seeding and bid.

Tennessee entered the month of March with a high chance to get a No. 1 seed only four teams received that honor and Tennessee wasn’t one of them due to losing their regular season finale to Kentucky and losing their first game of the SEC tournament in the quarterfinals to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Volunteers were awarded the second seed in the Midwest. They will face Saint Peter’s on Thursday.

  • Purdue (1) vs Montana State/Grambling State (16)
  • Utah State (8) vs TCU (9)
  • Gonzaga (5) vs McNeese (12)
  • Kansas (4) vs Samford (13)
  • South Carolina (6) vs Oregon (11)
  • Creighton (3) vs Akron (14)
  • Texas (7) vs Virginia/Colorado State (10)
  • Tennessee (2) vs Saint Peter’s (15)

They are joined by many talented teams, each of which will attempt to make a final four push. One of these teams is guaranteed to land a final four spot, as each division/region is split by 16 seeds to complete the 64-team tournament.

The Tennessee Volunteers will need some big games out of Zakai Zeigler, Dalton Knecht, and Jonas Aidoo, as it’s now win or go home. March Madness has been a nightmare for Tennessee, as they have never made it past the Sweet 16. The Volunteers had a promising run last season, defeating the Duke Blue Devils in the round of 32 before losing to the Florida Atlantic Owls.

Tennessee also didn’t have a specific piece to the puzzle. Dalton Knecht! Knecht is the SEC Player of the Year for a reason! He has been electric all season, and when he is hot, he and the Vols can defeat any team in the nation, I believe.
