Braylen Russell Narrows Recruitment Further

After cutting his list to 10 schools in February, Tennessee Volunteers running back target Braylen Russell slimmed his options to five on Friday.

Running back Braylen Russell cut his college list down to five schools on Friday. Russell named Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and Baylor as possible college destinations. After making the top-10 list in February, Ole Miss, Purdue, Kansas, Kansas State, and Cincinnati did not make the cut this time around. Russell is 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and weighs 230 pounds.

The four-star is in the class of 2024 and attends Benton High School in Benton, Arkansas. He has 17 total offers, according to 247Sports. Arkansas seems like the likely favorite to land the back with the possibility of him staying in his home state, but his most recent visit was in Knoxville at the beginning of April.

Although Benton did provide player stats for the 2022 season, Braylen Russell’s stats for his sophomore year at Lakeside High School in Arkansas are available. He had 141 carries for 823 yards and ten touchdowns in 10 games. He also had 24 receptions for 382 yards and three scores as a pass-catcher. He also played basketball there as a sophomore.

As a junior, Russell provided his own stats in his highlight tape, with 240 carries, 1643 yards, and 26 touchdowns on the ground and 22 receptions, 224 yards, and one touchdown through the air. Benton has all the tools: size, speed, vision, and more. He looked extremely impressive as a runner, making defenders look like they didn’t belong on the field with him. Russell is certainly a player who would be great to have in orange and white.
