Tennessee has made locking down the home state a top priority under head coach Josh Heupel, and they've done a good job through his first few recruiting cycles. In the class of 2025, one of their top in-state targets is current four-star athlete Cameron Sparks from Baylor High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Sparks plays wide receiver and occasionally plays running back on the offensive side of the ball. On defense, he plays safety and linebacker. The athlete is 6'4 and around 210 pounds. On offense, he plays wide receiver in a highly talented wideout core that also includes Alabama commit Amari Jefferson from the 2024 class. The 2025 athlete took the time to speak with Volunteer Country after his final regular-season game.

Sparks had an opening drive touchdown against Knoxville Catholic in which he ran a post route and created tons of space from the defenders. Sparks says, "As soon as my coach called it, I kind of knew what the outcome would be, so it felt good." He didn't play long as the Red Raiders gained a large lead early on, so they ultimately rested their star athlete as much as possible before the playoffs.

The 2025 prospect has been in contact with many schools, but he went into detail on the specific schools and coaches who have contacted him the most recently by saying, "I'd say Coach Heupel from Tennessee and Coach [Jim] Harbaugh at Michigan, and just like other schools like Florida State, they've been on me a lot and Georgia." Each team likely has a different view on where or how they can include the four-star athlete in their system, but when asked if he had a preference on which position he would like to play, he responded, "It all just depends on where I fit in at that school where I play."

Sparks also talked about visits coming up on his radar. "So I was actually scheduled to go to Ohio State vs. Michigan, but we just found out today that we got to practice on that day, so I won't be able to make it to that one, but I'll still be able to go to the Georgia vs. Tennessee game," the Baylor standout mentioned.

This recruitment is far from over, but there has been a connection with specific schools early on, including Tennessee. The Volunteers were the first D1 team to offer Sparks, and the offer came back in June 2021. Since then, he has been on a handful of visits to Tennessee, including multiple camp visits. This recruitment, in particular, will be one to watch moving forward inside Tennessee.
