Four-Star RB Daniel Hill Announces Commitment Date, Finalists
Official visit season has come and gone for four-star running back Daniel Hill (Meridian, Miss.). He's one of the top backs in America and has decided it's time to announce his college intentions. Hill will announce his commitment on August 23 and will be deciding between Alabama, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and USC. He took official visits to Alabama, South Carolina, and Auburn this summer while also getting out to Rocky Top in late May for an unofficial visit.
The Vols offered Hill in February after he logged 1,406 all-purpose yards and 21 touchdowns in 2022. He's 6-2 and 220 pounds, the frame of an SEC workhorse with the hands of a receiver. We often overexaggerate how talented backs are as pass catchers - Hill legitimately does things only receivers manage. There are several instances on film of him high-pointing the football, snagging it out of the air with one hand, and tracking the ball better than defensive backs. He's a potential 1,000-yard SEC back, so Tennessee worked hard to get him on campus this summer.
While the Vols are in the top three, we believe there is significant distance between the top two programs and No. 3. Hill's recruitment is essentially a two-horse race between Alabama and South Carolina. The Crimson Tide got Hill on campus far more than any other school recruiting him, but sources lean South Carolina a month out from his recruitment. If we were to put a prediction in today for Hill, it would favor the garnet and black, but there are several weeks before he announces.
