David Sanders Jr. Planning To Trim Top Schools List

2025 five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. (Charlotte, N.C.) is high on the Tennessee Volunteers and soon plans to cut his list of top schools.
In this story:

The Vols gained a lot of traction with Providence Day offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. when Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre committed to Tennessee on Monday morning. The two developed a relationship during a recruiting trip to Alabama and have kept in touch since; Tennessee was already a potential destination for Sanders, and this only helps their chances.

According to a report from On3's Chad Simmons, Sanders is in the process of cutting down his recruitment. He's expected to release an extended top schools list sometime in February before making more unofficial visits ahead of the summer period. Tennessee is one of the top schools fighting here and continue to make up ground.

He has been in the spotlight since he was a freshman in high school. The No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, according to the 247Sports' Composite Rankings, is high on three national programs heading into his senior season: Clemson, Georgia, and Tennessee. The Vols have invested a lot of time into this recruitment, and Sanders understands the ramifications of his decision in the building.

Tennessee offensive line coach Glen Elarbee has done a nice job of retooling his unit since arriving in Knoxville, Tennessee. He did nice work in the 2024 class but has his eyes on a few big fish in 2025, Sanders chief among them. It will take a lot to get Sanders on Rocky Top, though landing MacIntyre helps them.
