2025 QB Deuce Knight Receives Crystal Ball To Notre Dame After Visit
Tennessee has long pursued four-star passer Deuce Knight, a former Mississippi resident that recently announced his transfer to Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. They offered him over a year ago and have gotten him on campus four times, second to only the in-state Ole Miss Rebels. While those two programs have gotten the most face time with Knight, it was another program making headlines after a recent visit.
Head coach Marcus Freeman has impressed Knight since the Fighting Irish initially offered him. Every trip to South Bend, Indiana, felt positive, and Freeman always treated Knight like a priority. While Notre Dame had set a nice pace in his recruitment, they still trailed Tennessee and Ole Miss. That was until a recent unofficial visit - Freeman rolled out the red carpet for Knight, who was accompanied by his mother on the visit. The head man escorted them to practice and laid out his pitch, as Knight is the No. 1 quarterback on their board.
247Sports' Notre Dame Insider Tom Loy put in a crystal ball prediction for Knight after the visit, the first major move by a national media member in this recruitment. Knight has set the pace for his own recruitment, relaying his top schools in each interview with the usual top group included. This is the first time someone has put their name next to a prediction for Knight.
Tennessee isn't out of this one at all, and they may not even be worried. They've been a core part of this recruitment, as they were the first major program to offer Knight and have been recruiting him hard throughout the process, even before he became a blue-chip prospect. He's also now playing high school football with two Tennessee commits and attending school less than three hours away from the University of Tennessee. The Vols are going to be a factor in this one, and there likely will be more turns down the road.
It's worth noting that no major 2025 quarterback dominos have fallen. The nation's No. 1 passer, Michigan five-star Bryce Underwood, has several Big-Ten schools among his top group, and if he's headed south, it would likely be at LSU. The real quarterback that could get things rolling the class would be Tennessee five-star George MacIntyre. Tennessee, Alabama, and LSU are among the SEC schools pursuing, and his decision would make the board come into focus.
