Emmanuel Okoye Cuts List To Three
Just as we began to move toward the 2024 recruiting class, another name emerged. Edge rusher Emmanuel Okoye has cut his list down to three programs: Tennessee, Texas Tech, and USC. The world-class defensive lineman has many projectable tools but only recently became a national prospect.
Athletic projections are a critical part of the recruiting process. In fact, most directors of player personnel, who are in charge of setting the recruiting board, will tell you that it is the most pivotal part of their evaluations. NFL Academy product Okoye has athleticism in spades; the 2023 defender has the following measurements.
- 6-5
- 230 pounds
- 72" wingspan
- 45.5" vertical
He is the No. 1 player in England but isn't a top-10 edge rusher on any recruiting service. However, colleges have caught on to the hype, and several major programs are turning up the heat for Okoye. One of those squads is the Tennessee Volunteers, who hosted him for an official visit. Okoye was initially a 2024 recruit, but he intends to reclassify to the 2023 recruiting class and begin work with a program immediately. Sources confirm Tennessee had a productive visit and is in good standing with Okoye. There's still a way to go in his recruitment, but the Vols seem positioned well. Okoye shared with On3, "Tennessee has a great football environment and tradition, great coaches and system going on. They also have great academics. I met great people during my time out there, which will be great in the long run."
