In this story:

The running back room is one of the most interesting positions on Tennessee's roster. The Vols employ a specific offensive system under head coach Josh Heupel, making it difficult to have a consistent run game. They throw the ball outside the numbers a lot, meaning the offensive sets are very spread. It makes running the football out of those wide formations tough, but Tennessee exceeded expectations on the ground in 2022.

A large amount of the credit goes to the running back room and the cast of characters in there. 2024 four-star running back Peyton Lewis committed to Tennessee, giving them one excellent back on the trail, but they are searching for more. 2025 four-star running back Jamarion Parker has been on the coaching staff's shortlist since April when they offered him. The offer came on the same day that the Saint Louis, Missouri, native unofficially visited. That one trip was enough for the Vols to make Parker's recruitment cutdown, as did several other major programs.

Parker will focus on Arkansas, Louisville, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Purdue, and Tennessee moving forward. It's a strong group for one of the top backs in the cycle. The Arkansas Razorbacks look to be the early favorite, as they have gotten him on campus three times already. However, there's still a lot of time left in the 2025 cycle, and the Vols have identified Parker as an early target.
