Jordan Ross Turns Heads During UA All-American Week

2024 five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross (Vestavia Hills, Ala.) has made waves after signing his national letter of intent with the Tennessee Volunteers.
In this story:

Tennessee defensive line coach Rodney Garner had a productive time on the recruiting trail in 2024, specifically when landing five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross. Ross chose the Vols over Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Texas, a premier recruiting win for Garner and company. In the weeks since signing his national letter of intent, Ross went through the pageantry of the Under Armour All-American Game and came out a big winner.

The Vols offered Ross on September 13, 2022. They were the second college program to extend one at that point, behind South Carolina. Tennessee got him in for an unofficial visit a few days later for a regular season game against Akron. Mutual interest began and carried into the summer when Ross anointed Tennessee as one of his top schools. That top group changed several times throughout the summer, but Tennessee was always there. From the beginning, the coaching staff approached him with consistent and authentic energy, which went a long way with Ross.

This isn't a tentative player - when Ross sees something, he attacks the football. He gets from a stand-still to his top speed quickly and violently, often using his shoulders as battering rams when being chipped by backs and tight ends in pass protection. Offenses try to confuse Ross and get him to bite early, but he clearly understands what he's looking at. In his junior season of high school, Ross was calling out tendencies and formations to the rest of his teammates, helping THEM know where the play was going. And again, even when he makes a mistake, his tools allow him to fix the issue instantly.
