Although 2024 five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross is an Alabama native, the ball lies in the court of Tennessee for his services, it appears. Florida and Georgia have already gotten him in on official visits, and we appear to be in the home stretch for Ross's recruitment. After recent visits with Florida, Georgia, and Texas, Jordan caps off his visits with the Vols on Friday.

Ross is a top-tier edge rusher from Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He is the No. 2 edge rusher in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports, and the No. 1 player in Alabama. With an extra emphasis on defense in the 2024 class, the Vols are closing in on the elite defensive lineman. He accumulated 16 TFLs as a junior and has been highly productive in his high school career. With his visit coming on Friday, we look at his profile before he arrives in Knoxville.

Prospect: Jordan Ross

Projected Position: EDGE

Vitals: 6-5 and 215 pounds

School: Vestavia Hills High School (Birmingham, Alabama)

Frame: A bit light at just 215 pounds, but has great length in a 6-5 frame and has plenty of potential growth both as a Senior and once reaching the College ranks. What he lacks in mass, he makes up for in athleticism.

Athleticism: Freaky athlete with plenty of explosions, especially in his first step. Body quickness is elite, and once by his blocker, has great burst to finish the play. Can change speeds well and moves great laterally and in space.

Polish: A guy that may need extra time bulking up and getting stronger as he nears SEC trenches, but seems to be just now hitting his stride and has plenty of time and room to grow while increasing his already impressive speed and burst. Projects as an off-ball backer who can come off the edge more often than not.

Bottom Line: With Tennessee and Florida seemingly the two clear-cut favorites, the Vols want to wow Ross this weekend in Knoxville. If they can, they may be looking at their best EDGE prospect in a while. With the athleticism that Josh Heupel and his staff like in a guy off the edge, like Byron Young, he is a must-have prospect for the Vols.
