2025 Five-Star OT Josh Petty Talks 865 Live, Updates Recruitment
The Tennessee Volunteers brought in high-major prospects across different positions, areas, and graduating classes this weekend. 2025 five-star offensive tackle Josh Petty made the trip to Knoxville one day after getting home from a trip to Auburn. Though it was a quick turnaround, Petty wouldn't change his decision.
"It was definitely the most fun visit I have experienced and a pleasant memory for me." That's what the Georgia native told Volunteer Country after his visit, which speaks volumes about Tennessee in perspective to other programs. Petty is garnering significant interest from major programs and has traveled around the country this spring, yet was taken aback by Rocky Top. The coaching staff planned many fun activities for recruits, but the highlight of Petty's day was the scavenger hunt. He liked the time he spent with other offensive line prospects and even quipped about Tennessee offensive line coach Glen Elarbee's golf cart driving skills. Other notable names in Petty's group included 2024 four-star offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun and 2024 three-star Tennessee commit Gage Ginther.
Petty is feeling the love from Tennessee early in his recruitment. "I believe we’re very close every time I go up there. It feels like a family atmosphere." Elarbee has made him feel important to this point, connecting with Petty beyond the football field. Though Tennessee has made early strides, the Vols aren't the only schools competing for Petty. He plans to see Clemson, Oregon, Stanford, Florida State, Penn State, Notre Dame, and LSU at various points during the summer, though a final schedule hasn't been finalized. The in-state Georgia Bulldogs are also a serious threat, but Tennessee sits in a strong place after Petty's second unofficial visit to campus in the past six weeks.
