Scouting Tennessee's Top 2024 Targets: Tre Johnson

The Tennessee Volunteers have offered five-star guard Tre Johnson, the No. 1 player in the 2024 class. Why is he so highly touted, and can the Vols land him?
In this story:

Tre Johnson is a 6-foot-5-inch shooting guard from Dallas, Texas. He is the No. 1 player in the class of 2024 and is currently playing for Lake Highlands High School. Johnson has offers from most of the major programs in college basketball, including Tennessee, Kansas, Baylor, Kentucky, Alabama, and more. He is highly sought after, obviously for being the best player in this upcoming recruiting class.

The Volunteers offered Johnson way back in 2021. He recently had visits with the Crimson Tide and Jayhawks in May. So what makes Johnson so elite and prized in the eyes of schools everywhere? He has a handle that is not only college-ready but also, at times, professional-level ready. The handle assists him with having a quick and deadly pull-up jumper and a great quick first step in drives to the rim. It cannot be stated enough how good Johnson's jump shot is. At 6 feet and 5 inches tall, he can stretch himself up and over the top of opposing guards to get a clean look on his shots. He is an all-around weapon with the basketball in his hands.

Many top teams in college hoops want Johnson for his incredible ability to score the basketball. This includes the crazy ball-handling skills that can lead to him getting to the rim and getting good jump shots up and over the top of defenders. He can really spark any offense that needs scorers.
